Bridging the worlds of food, spirits, music and philanthropy, Desert Spirit is one of the desert's most celebrated fundraisers. Celebrating 31 years, the event has raised more than $4 million towards the fight against cancer.

We are so thankful for the support of our amazing restaurants and beverage purveyors. Their delicious creations and libations are truly the desert's finest culinary treasures.

With your dedication & support, the American Cancer Society is able to fight harder than ever, attacking cancer from every angle.  As a result, 14 more million people in America will be celebrating birthdays this year.  Thank you.

To Our Valued American Cancer Society Supporter,

Thank you for your continued support of the American Cancer Society as we navigate the unique circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 virus.

Our volunteer committee has proactively monitored the situation in our desert community. Together we have made the decision to postpone our 31st Desert Spirit Gala scheduled for March 29, 2020.

This decision was made to ensure the safety and welfare of all our participants following the lead of our nation’s health professionals.  We look forward to providing an update of options for you to continue supporting Desert Spirit and the American Cancer Society here in the Coachella Valley.

We also want to keep all our participants, vendors and volunteers safe, so we are sharing some tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help protect yourself:
    •  If you feel sick, stay home.
•    Stay at least six feet away from people exhibiting symptoms.
•    Wash your hands frequently.
•    If you have to cough or sneeze, cough or sneeze into your elbow.
•    Dispose of tissues in a waste basket after you blow your nose.
•    Keep a good supply of food staples and medication on hand in case of an emergency.
•    Keep calm and carry on.

If you have additional questions about COVID-19, please visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html for information about the virus, symptoms and severity, and how to protect yourself.

Together we will get through this and continue making a significant difference in the lives of families facing cancer. If you have further questions, please reach out to our staff partner, Kelli Biello at 760.340.6315 or via email at Kelli.Biello@cancer.org.

Thank you again for your patience as we work together through this highly unusual situation.  Our goal is to keep you safe and healthy, so we can continue our fight.

With our deepest appreciation,
Michele, Melissa & Kelli
